on Why We Call Ourselves Dorks

it may seem an odd thing that we here on the outback should call ourselves dorks. the word dork traditionally has a negative connotation. indeed we use it ourselves to recognize the humorous, however unfortunate, moments of stupidity of those close to us.

but we dorks carry our title with pride. we are not ashamed of the times our brains spontaniously derail, whether for the explosion of genius or the long skreeching slide to dorkdom. it's those moments that make our lives interesting, entertaining. if we were all perfect life would be awfully boring, would be heaven instead of earth.

so we call ourselves dorks to imply our humanness. our peculiarities and our mishaps give shape to the minds behind our names. our moments of just save up for a spark, and of course cultivate laughter like flowery mushrooms on the decay that reminds us we're animal. our stammerings, stubbed toes and typos are starlit dances where we sing to the gods of chaos, knowing not everything will go our way but we will rejoice just the same.

we revel in our dorkiness because it is our humanity.
